Ji Hye Woo Retains Jr. Lightweight Title in JinCheon, South Korea.

Woo Ji Hye defended her 130 pound IFBA title against 7th ranked contender Judy Waguthii of Kenya on November 17, 2007, winning by unanimous decision.

In the first round Waguthii looked strong, using her long lanky reach to jab and win two of the three judges cards.  Woo’s strategy to close the gap by crowding Judy subsequently took the advantage away as Woo continually pressed forward and an inside battle ensued. Waguthii at moments would spin and take the pressure away from Woo, but with not enough consistency. Waguthii rallied the 9th and 10th rounds with all the judges, but by then there was no way to catch the lead that Woo had gained in the middle rounds.
Final judges scores: 97-94, 97-94, 96-94.
