IFBA STATEMENT ON THE DAN-BI KIM/JOLENE BLACKSHEAR PROTEST OUTCOME BY THE KOREAN BOXING COMMISSION

“After receiving official letters of protest from both the IFBA and Jolene Blackshear’s management team, the Korean Boxing Commission (KBC) reviewed the Blackshear- Dan-Bi Kim fight that took place on Oct. 15, 2009 in South Korea. Upon review, the KBC has declared the judges’ original outcome of a unanimous decision in favor of Kim will stand and Kim will keep the IFBA Mini Flyweight Championship. Though the IFBA found there were enough concerns with the original outcome to file the formal protest, the IFBA will accept and adhere to the KBC’s final ruling.

The KBC is still reviewing the Lisa Brown – Hyo-Min Kim fight, also under protest by the IFBA. The KBC is expected to deliver a final decision on that protest next week.

The IFBA appreciates the diligence the KBC is putting forth on this matter, to ensure fair judging for women’s boxing.”
