IFBA CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF SANCTIONING THE BEST IN WOMEN’S PROFESSIONAL BOXING

2007 marks the 10 year anniversary of the founding of the IFBA and its many accomplishments. Since 1997 we have sanctioned over 100 women’s title bouts, pioneered all women’s cards on ESPN2, USA Tuesday Night Fights, Pay-Per-View, Fox Sports International and SBS, MBC and MBC-ESPN Korea. We held the first women’s tournaments on TV and sponsored the 1998 Women’s Armature Championships in Anaheim, California.  With TKO Sports we helped develop the first glove designed expressly for women’s competitive boxing and with the help of various State Boxing Commissions we established many of the rules used in the sport today. In 2006 the IFBA held the first women’s world title fights in China and crowned two champions from North Korea. Hollywood featured the IFBA in the blockbuster women’s boxing film Million Dollar Baby and IFBA footage has appeared in various television shows throughout the world.

This year we will bring back the all-women’s card on TV when we work with Frequez Productions to bring FSN’s Best Damn Sports Show Period to the Isleta Casino in March.

It has been a long tough road, but women’s boxing continues to grow in popularity and we look forward to many more years of helping women’s boxing grow in the hearts and mines of the fans around the world.
