WOMEN UNITE SIX NATIONS UNDER COMMON LOVE OF SPORT

It became the little United Nations. Six countries joining together to present the sport of women’s boxing as never before.

Mexico, Japan, South Korea, China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the United States all joining each other to prove to the world that sports transcends politics.

The IFBA salutes Pyeonghwa Promotions for their outstanding promotion of this event.

JEFFRIES DEFENDS FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE WITH UNANIMOUS DECISON

In the fifth defense of her IFBA Featherweight Title, Kelsey Jeffries of Gilroy, California won a unanimous decision over Trisha Hill of Atlanta, Georgia in a 10 round contest from the Seven Feathers Resort/Casino in Canyonville, Oregon Nov 4, 2004. JUAREZ AND LEE WEIGH-IN AT 113 1/2 EACH

It was a packed house for Saturday’s weigh-in for tomorrow’s nationally televised showdown between Mexico’s Mariana Juarez and Korea’s In Young Lee. Both fighters tipped the scales at 113 1/2 for their 115 pound Jr. Bantamweight Championship contest which will be the main event on an all male card promoted by BJI Sports.

ZURITA WINS IFBA FLYWEIGHT CROWN IN DRAMATIC FASHION!

Maribel Zurita won a unanimous decision over Shin Hee Choi in the tenth and final round as she became the new IFBA Flyweight Champion in Seoul, South Korea. Locked in a majority draw after nine, Zurita came out with a flurry to capture the show and the belt in front of over 1,000 fans in attendance and a national TV audience. CHAVEZ OUT POINTS ORTIZ TO WIN IFBA JR. FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE!

FORMER IFBA SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION TRINA ORTEGON NAMED CHAIRMAN of NM ATHLETIC COMMISSION

The IFBA congratulates Trina Ortegon, who was named Chairman of the New Mexico Athletic Commission, after Joe Chavez resigned that position. Trina won the IFBA Super Middleweight Title over Kendra Lenhart on ESPN2 in February of 2000 at the Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner, Louisiana.
